The first design depicts subversive, or undermining, humor in an abstract way. The falling blocks represent the building blocks or components of a system that is deliberately brought down by the smallest block, which represents the joke.

The second design depicts self-mockery in an abstract yet recognizable way. The hand holding the needle represents the joke aimed at the creator of the joke themselves; the mockery is therefore directed at the self. The large, angular fingers create a cubist image that could also function well as a sculptural construction.
The idea behind this design is to demonstrate the kind of damage excessive self-mockery can inflict on a person’s self-confidence.
